As of the fall of 2016, we will no longer be offering weekly Wednesday night dinners. We thank God for decades of fellowship through these dinners, and are grateful for the wonderful memories they gave us here at Ward. But as one of the wisest men who ever lived said in the Book of Ecclesiastes, “for everything there is a season.”
There were a number of contributing factors that led to this decision:
- Increasing cost of dinners, combined with decreasing attendance.
- Realigning our resources: We realized a need to reallocate our resources and volunteers to bolster our Sunday morning hospitality and fellowship ministries.
- Redirecting the responsibilities of our Food Services Coordinator to better serve the needs of Ward’s ministries and departments.
While weekly dinners will end, we are looking to increase the number of one-time fellowship dinners and food related events throughout the year by tying them to special events (i.e. special celebrations, town hall meetings, Christmas programs, Leadership Community, etc.).
