To make our services a reality each and every week, we rely upon musicians both within our congregation and outside our congregation to share their talents with us.
As you can imagine, with four different services every week, it takes quite the team to make this happen. Therefore we are always looking for more musicians (vocalists and instrumentalists) who enjoy being a part of something that matters, who enjoy using their gifts for God in church and who enjoy, or will grow to enjoy, arts communities in church.
Modern Worship Music Team
Our Modern Worship Service has a rhythm section and vocalists on microphones that drive the music for the services. These services include instruments like acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, piano, strings, percussion, and eclectic instruments like steel guitars, mandolins and even banjitars and more!Learn more about being a part of this team
There is an informal audition required. First, we like to get to know you by way of a quick overview of your life story, including your backgrounds in music, family, church etc. We will then explain to you what it is we are looking for specifically in regards to your voice/instrument before we even hear you. We will also have a time of listening to your musical abilities followed by giving you feedback right away. Please don’t let this process make you shy away from reaching out to us. We would LOVE to meet you and hear about how God has encouraged you to serve with us. You would be surprised at how much fun the process really is!
Our rehearsals are generally on Wednesday Evenings at 6:30 p.m. For the Modern Worship Service. Please come and visit us in Knox Hall if you’re curious.

Classic Worship Music Team
Our Classic Music Teams also share many similarities and musicians as the Modern Music Teams. However, organ and piano are typically the anchor instruments for the music in the Classic Worship Service. We also have ensembles like small rhythm sections (acoustic guitar, percussion, bass guitar, etc), brass groups, string groups, handbell choir, vocal solos and ensembles, etc. However, the 11:00 a.m. Classic Worship Service also includes the larger ensembles like the Chancel Choir and Orchestra.Learn more about being a part of this team
The Chancel Choir sings in the 11 a.m. Classic Service from September through mid-June, as well as several Summer Sundays and seasonal service and concerts. Repertoire centers on standard sacred anthems, gospel arrangements, spirituals, hymns (old and modern), and occasional contemporary compositions. The Chancel Choir also performs occasional extended works with orchestra or other instrumental ensembles. The Chancel Choir is auditioned along with an informal interview with the director. Singers may join the choir at any time during the year, and commit to sing during the Sunday morning Classic Service throughout the full season. We welcome singers of all ages and stages!
The Ward Orchestra is the largest instrumental ensemble that regularly participates in worship at Ward Church. The orchestra prepares preludes and offertories for Sunday morning worship and frequently accompanies the Chancel Choir. Besides leading in worship on Sunday mornings, the orchestra is featured in concerts and special services through the year. Members consist of all ages and musical backgrounds. The Ward Orchestra is always willing to welcome new members, and is currently in need of more string instruments! The Orchestra is auditioned along with an informal interview with the director.
